Instructions
- Preheat the Oven: Preheat to 425°F (218°C). Place a cast iron skillet in the oven to heat.
- Mix Dry Ingredients: In a bowl, combine cornmeal, flour, sugar, baking powder, and salt.
- Prepare Wet Ingredients: In another bowl, whisk buttermilk, melted butter, and egg until smooth.
- Combine: Gently fold wet ingredients into the dry ingredients. Avoid overmixing; lumps are fine.
- Pour into Skillet: Grease the hot skillet, pour in the batter, and smooth the top.
- Bake: Bake for 20–25 minutes until golden brown and a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean.
- Cool and Serve: Allow to cool for 5–10 minutes before slicing.
Notes
