Description

This Vegan Jalapeno Cheddar Artisan Bread is packed with bold flavors, featuring a spicy kick from jalapenos and creamy vegan cheddar. Perfectly crusty on the outside, soft and cheesy on the inside, this no-knead artisan bread is easy to make and 100% plant-based.


Ingredients

  • 3 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 1/2 teaspoons salt
  • 1 teaspoon active dry yeast
  • 1 1/2 cups warm water
  • 1 cup vegan cheddar (shredded, e.g., Violife or Daiya)
  • 2 jalapenos (chopped, fresh or pickled)
  • Optional: 1 teaspoon garlic powder, 1 teaspoon smoked paprika, or 1 tablespoon nutritional yeast

Instructions

  1. In a large bowl, mix the flour, salt, and yeast. Add the warm water and stir until just combined.
  2. Fold in the vegan cheddar and chopped jalapenos until evenly distributed.
  3. Cover the bowl with a clean towel or plastic wrap and let the dough rise at room temperature for 12-18 hours.
  4. Preheat your oven to 450°F (232°C) with a Dutch oven inside.
  5. Lightly flour a surface, shape the dough into a round loaf, and place it on parchment paper.
  6. Carefully place the dough (with parchment paper) into the preheated Dutch oven. Cover with the lid and bake for 30 minutes.
  7. Remove the lid and bake for an additional 10-15 minutes until golden brown.
  8. Cool the bread on a wire rack for at least 30 minutes before slicing.
  9. Serve and enjoy!

  • Adjust the spice level by removing or keeping jalapeno seeds.
  • Use pickled jalapenos for a tangy twist.
